How to Regain Access to GAIL

If you change roles or positions within UGA, or if you don’t use GAIL for a certain amount of time, your account will automatically become terminated for security purposes.

If you are simply having trouble logging into GAIL, this might be why.

Are you looking to gain access for the first time? The four steps to getting GAIL access can be found on our Getting Access page!

Regaining GAIL Access After Timing Out

GAIL access is automatically removed after 180 days without use. If you are attempting to regain GAIL access after a full year of inactivity, you will be required to take a GAIL refresher course (equivalent to the regular GAIL 101 course).

Steps to Regaining GAIL Access:

1.  Submit a new GAIL user access form

2. Verify you have access to the 02 Restricted VPN

3. Enroll in ArchPass and DuoMobile

4. Take a GAIL refresher course (If you haven’t actively used GAIL in the past 12 months)

Upon completion of all of these steps, your form will be processed and documented, and your access will be reissued.

Regaining GAIL Access After Switching Jobs

If an employee moves to a different position within UGA, their user access roles will change to reflect their new role. Your new position may or may not require GAIL access. Access follows the position and not the employee.

Staff transferring or being promoted who will continue to need GAIL access will need to submit a new GAIL user access form to be signed by their new supervisor. In some cases, a change in position includes a change in the level of GAIL access that is needed, and that is determined by the duties of the new position. This could result in needing to take more GAIL classes for expanded GAIL user access. If your new position requires you to take more GAIL courses, you can find upcoming classes on our class calendar.
