Using Links for Buttons in BEE

UPDATE:
The issue we discovered that impacts how URLs are handled for buttons in BEE has been temporarily resolved. The fix addresses the issue where button links generated using the BEE editor were being incorrectly changed to lower case and causing 403/404 (site not found) errors. If you discover this issue in future emails, please contact AskIT.

ORIGINAL:
There is a new issue we discovered in GAIL that impacts how URLs are handled for Buttons in BEE emails. This issue only affects email recipients viewing the email in an Outlook desktop email client. Some websites don’t allow you to switch the case of any part of the URL. With this issue, a user who is using an Outlook desktop email client might be trying to visit a website that looks like www.uga.edu/ABC, but they are directed to www.uga.edu/abc, which might show as an unfound website.
Please be aware that test emails sent from BEE will not be a good indicator of if you need to modify your URL for the button or not. This issue only presents itself on actual direct marketing or event invitation email sends. A ticket has been submitted to Blackbaud about this issue, but a quick resolution is not expected.
If want to minimize the risk of running into this problem, please make sure that the link for your button is all lower case. In cases where URLs cannot be all lower case, like Touchnet Marketplace URLs, we recommend using an email shortening tool that allows you to create a URL that is all lower case. If you have an account with bitly.com, you can create short URLS, and then edit the short URL to make sure there are no upper case letters.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Please reach out to AskIT if you have any questions or concerns.
