Seeds & Salutations

Seeds & Salutations

Need to verify that an email marketing effort was sent? Want to see how your postal marketing effort turned out? Seeds are a great way to include yourself, and your internal team members, as recipients of a marketing effort without adding an additional segment. While seeds are a fantastic tool to utilize in your marketing effort, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Seeds are not connected to actual constituents in GAIL.
  • Seeds do not tag a constituent’s record as having received the communication.
  • Seeds will override a person’s communication preferences so use with caution.
  • Once a new seed is created, you do not need to create the seed again in the future, so be sure to include email and postal address information.
  • Seeds are not intended to be used for forcing constituents into your marketing effort that may be excluded based on their communication preferences (solicit codes).
  • When using a salutation merge field in your marketing effort, the name will appear without a title. This means, if I add John Smith as a seed, his salutation will appear as “Smith” instead of “Mr. Smith.”

If you’d like to add a seed in future marketing efforts, follow the instructions below:
