Reviewing Your Email’s Communication Preferences
Setting up your communication preference at the bottom of an email allows your audience to opt-out of your communications. However, that link doesn’t activate until the email is sent through a DME or Event communication. This means you cannot easily check your communication preference while it is being built, including from a test email. We always recommend ensuring your communication preference is accurate, especially if your email is a copy, as this prevents your audience from opting out of the wrong units. There is one easy way to check if your email uses the correct communication preference – through viewing the link within a package.
Finding Your Package
As a reminder, you can search for your package by first going to the Marketing & Communications functional area page. The middle section is titled “Packages” and has a link also titled “Packages.” Clicking on that, you will be brought to a list of package tools. Select the “Package search” tool to search for your package. If your package name is particularly long, you are able to use the wildcard search function (placing an * at the start of your keywords) to help with the search process. For example, if your package is “ASRV – INV – FY25 Fall 5k,” you could instead search “ASRV *5k” to quickly search for all package starting with “ASRV” and including “5k” afterwards.
Reviewing Your Communication Preference Link
Within your package, click on the linked message located in the middle of the screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the email, and highlight the “Communication Preferences” link. Then, at the top of this box, click on the link button. This will show you which communication preference page has been linked to your email. Any changes you make to the email from this screen will not be saved, so if you need to change your email’s communication preference please first open it within the Bee Email Editor to make those changes.
