Package Code Errors & How to Fix Them

Last week, GAIL encountered an issue with Package Codes running out of available code values so changes had to be made in GAIL to allow the creation of more code value options.

If you are creating a new Package, you will not encounter an error and can proceed as normal.

However, if you are re-using an existing Package, (either by copying from a previous marketing effort that contains an existing package or by using the same package for an event invitation) then you will receive an error message and will not be able to proceed until you manually edit the Package itself.

Under Marketing and Communications | Packages | Package Search >>

Find and Edit the Package by selecting “Package Code” from the Package Code drop down menu then press the tab key. This action which will prompt the system to automatically populate a new 3 alphanumeric code into the Value field. Once you make these changes, you can then save your package with the new package code option and value.

See image #1 below.

NOTE:  If you are re-using a Package that was set up in a marketing effort or event invitation prior to Monday, March 6, then you will encounter this error message and will have to make the manual edits before you can proceed.

Marketing Efforts:  If your package is being used within a marketing effort, you can navigate to the marketing effort and refresh your screen, and then the system will update your marketing effort with the new package information.

Event Invitations:  If your package is being used in an Event invitation, you are able to set up the new invitation at this point.
