New Planned Giving Tile

Since the beginning of GAIL we have recorded planned giving interest using various methods. To streamline those efforts, the Office of Gift and Estate Planning has consolidated self-identifying donors using a new tile in GAIL that we are calling the PG tile. The tile is populated using an attribute housed in the portfolio rating tab called “Planned Giving Indicator.” There are four ratings: PG1, PG2, PG3, and PG4. These ratings are manually added and the rating is given depending on the donor’s level of interest and whether or not we are currently working on a planned gift with them. Let’s start at the bottom and work our way up!

PG4 – Donors who at some point indicated a small level of interest in planned giving. These donors have likely only indicated one time that they are interested, they have NOT indicated that UGA is in their estate plans. They could have indicated through a survey that they might be interested or asked for more information about planned giving via a solicitation reply card.

PG3 – Donors who have, at some point, indicated interest in planned giving. These donors have likely indicated more than once that they are interested, they have NOT indicated that UGA is in their estate plans. They could have indicated through a survey that they will be interested in planned giving in the future, or asked, more than once, for more information about planned giving.

PG2 – Donors who have indicated that they have already included UGA in their estate plans. They are not listed as planned givers because they have not shared their documentation with UGA or worked with anyone to do so. (If a donor is marked as a PG2 and has shared with you that UGA is not or no longer in their estate plans, please notify Megan Powell)

PG1 – Donors who have indicated that UGA is in their estate plans and they are currently working with a development officer to document their gift. If you are working with someone on documenting their estate plans you can feel free to add this attribute to their portfolio.

There are a few more ratings that you might notice when perusing a donor’s constituent record: PG+, N/A and NPG.

  • PG+: the donor is already a planned giver
  • N/A: the donor has never self-identified as a planned giving prospect
  • NPG: the donor has self-identified as not being interested in planned giving

If you have any additional questions on this new constituent tile, reach out to Gift & Estate Planning.
