Marketing Exclusions Report

Marketing Exclusions Report

If you want to know which constituents are being excluded from your effort and why, you can run a Marketing Exclusions Report.

After you’ve calculated your marketing effort, click the marketing exclusions report link in the explorer bar on the left side of the window.

When the new window appears, click view report. A summary of your exclusions will populate below.

What do these numbers mean?

The highest number usually corresponds with the “email address processing exclusions.” These are the constituents who we either don’t have an email address for or the email address we have has been sent back as invalid. “Deceased” shows the number of constituents who were removed because they are no longer living. The “do not email, do not mail, do not solicit, no university contact” exclusions show constituents who have requested not to receive certain types of communications.

How do I see who I don’t have an email address for?

At the top of your exclusions summary screen, click the Excel icon. This will begin a download for an Excel spreadsheet. When the file is finished downloading, open it. At the bottom of the spreadsheet, choose the data tab.

This data sheet will display several different columns of information including donor name, excluded from segment, and exclusion reason. If you are interested in constituents who have an invalid or missing email, look for email address processing within the exclusion reason column. If you are interested in constituents who have a missing postal mail address, look for mail address processing within the exclusion reason column.
