GAIL and Athena Partnership

GAIL and Athena Partnership

As most of you know, UGA implemented its new student information system, Athena, starting with the Fall 2014 semester. GAIL and Athena are working together to securely maintain UGA student data. Given that both systems are still relatively new, many details regarding data needs and structure, transmission of data, security, etc. are still being worked out.

With this new conversion we expect there will be a delay associated with obtaining the following data from Athena and imputing it into GAIL: new freshmen and transfer students, newly graduated alumni, returning students, and parent information. We assure you that both teams continue to work through connecting these two systems while securing the transmission of this vital information, but there is still more work to completing this process.  As GAIL users, you rely on this data and it’s important that you are aware of the status of this effort when viewing this information in GAIL.

Until the transition is complete here are some points to remember when viewing information in GAIL:

  • Students who have graduated will remain a “Student” rather than an “Alumnus”.
  • Freshmen and transfer students will not be loaded into GAIL.
  • Parents will not be linked to the incoming freshmen due to the new students not being in the system.

Please rest assured that we, along with EITS, are working diligently to make sure that this is only temporary, and we would like to thank you in advance for your patience. If you have any questions please let us know.
